Safe in Salford accepts domestic abuse self-referrals for all Salford residents (age 18+) around current and historic domestic abuse.

We support victims of current and historic abuse. This support can be emotionally, financially, or practically, see below for how we may be able to help. We can also offer support if you’re still living with your partner or preparing to leave.
If you are not working with any other services who can refer you to Safe in Salford then please contact us for a domestic abuse self referral. See below.

How do I make a domestic abuse self referral?
You can contact us via our helpline 01617933232, email info@safeinsalford.org.uk or use the contact form below and ask us to call you. You just need to let us know the best day and time to contact you. Its also helpful if you can let us know if it is safe to leave a voicemail if you can’t answer.
What happens during the referral?
We will ask you for your personal details, contact number, address etc and the name of your ex partner (name of partner/ex is not mandatory) and details of any children. We may also ask if we can carry out any background checks to determine that we are the right service to support you.
We will then complete a DASH (Domestic Abuse, Stalking, Harassment, and Honour Based Violence Assessment) with you. This determines your risk and what support you need. If you disclose any information where we believe you or someone else is at risk or there is criminal activity we have a duty to pass that information on the relevant safeguarding authority.
This conversation can take around an hour and can be quite emotional for you. We understand that this is difficult and can be overwhelming, we will be as sensitive as we can and will take it at your pace.
